The teacher introduces the importance of complex numbers and their use in engineering by using a practical example of electronics. Also presents a piece of history about complex numbers and the solution to second-degree equations by using complex numbers, as well as, their binomial representation. The teacher shows two examples where complex numbers are used to solve the suggested exercises.
